Code for Good Brings AI to €15M textile initiative SORTED
With the launch of SORTED, the Netherlands is taking a major step toward a circular textile industry. The four-year initiative is supported by €15 million from the European Just Transition Fund (JTF), including €6 million in co-financing from the Ministry of Economic Affairs. It brings together leading organizations across the textile chain to develop new, scalable solutions for reuse and recycling.
Within SORTED, Code for Good contributes the technology that enables autonomous decision-making in textile sorting. By building advanced AI models, textiles can be classified based on their potential for reuse or recycling, helping to increase material recovery and reduce waste at scale.
The 𝗖𝗼𝗱𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗚𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺 provides the smart layer that connects sensors, vision systems and AI models into one adaptive ecosystem. It translates raw data into actionable insights enabling real-time decision-making, performance monitoring and continuous model improvement across sorting environments.

Data is collected directly in the field using the 𝗖𝗼𝗱𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗚𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗔𝗽𝗽, which allows operators to capture and validate visual information on-site. This data feeds back into the platform, strengthening the AI models and ensuring a learning loop that improves both accuracy and impact over time.

We are proud to help shape a smarter, more circular textile chain together with great partners.
