Smart cameras provide real-time insight into production processes

JM van Delft & zn., a specialist in high-quality facade systems, windows and doors, is entering into a strategic partnership with Code for Good. Using Vision AI, a new digital layer is being added to the production environment, which automatically makes activities on the work floor transparent.

JM van Delft has been known for years as one of the most progressive players in Dutch facade engineering. With a modern production facility, a strong focus on quality and a constant drive to improve processes, the family business continuously invests in innovation. The partnership with Code for Good is the next step in that development.

Real-time insight from the work floor

Within JM van Delft's production environment, hundreds of actions take place every day that determine the progress, quality and efficiency of projects. Much of this information is still recorded on a limited scale today or is only available afterwards.

As a first step, smart cameras will be installed at various workstations to automatically record production operations. By combining Vision AI with project information, an accurate picture of completed work, lead times and the process flow on the work floor is created. Projects are linked via QR codes.

This approach reduces administrative work for employees while simultaneously delivering valuable operational insights. This creates a better understanding of production processes, enables deviations to be detected more quickly and lays a solid foundation for further optimisation.

Sander van Delft, owner of JM van Delft & zn., explains:

“Innovation is in our DNA. In Code for Good, we have found a partner that not only delivers the technology, but also understands how to apply it practically on the work floor. By using Vision AI, we create a working environment where employees are supported by smart technology, allowing them to focus on what truly adds value.”

Koen Looijmans, on behalf of Code for Good:

“JM van Delft is already at the forefront of technology within the sector. With Vision AI, we make processes on the work floor transparent that were previously barely measurable. This creates new opportunities to continuously improve and design production processes more smartly.”

Building the factory of tomorrow

The collaboration fits within a broader development where progressive manufacturing companies are increasingly using real-time data to make production processes more transparent, predictable and efficient.

By making information directly available from the shop floor, a digital infrastructure is created upon which future improvements can be built. From process optimisation and quality improvement to capacity planning and decision-making: reliable data forms the basis for this.

For Code for Good, the collaboration is a valuable addition to the growing portfolio of innovative manufacturing companies that deploy technology to make their operations smarter, more efficient and future-proof.
